Turkey Travel Agency & Tour Operator
Turkey Package Tours – Private, Small Group & Family Programs
Turkey is the rare country where continents, empires and landscapes overlap in a single itinerary. In one journey a traveller can stand beneath the dome of Hagia Sophia, walk the marble street of an ancient Roman city, watch dawn break over a valley of volcanic rock, and float in the mineral-white pools of a mountainside carved by hot springs. The History Travel Agency has spent more than a decade turning that variety into coordinated Turkey package tours — routes that connect the right destinations in the right order, with realistic travel days, clear inclusions and a local team on call throughout.
This page is a guide to how our Turkey package tours work, not a single fixed itinerary. Programs range from a focused two-day introduction to Cappadocia up to a fifteen-day Grand Turkey Tour, and every route can be booked as a small-group departure, a fully private tour, or a custom family itinerary built around your own dates and interests.

Why Turkey Rewards a Planned Route Rather Than a Single City Stop
Turkey stretches across seven distinct geographic regions, each with its own historical character. The Marmara region around Istanbul carries nearly two thousand years of Byzantine and Ottoman layering. Central Anatolia holds Cappadocia's volcanic valleys and Konya's Mevlevi heritage. The Aegean coast preserves Ephesus, Pergamon and the Temple of Artemis, while the Dardanelles region ties together the myth of Troy and the First World War history of Gallipoli. Trying to compress too many of these regions into too few days usually means more time on the road than at the destinations themselves — which is why every package on this page is built around a realistic number of travel days per region, not simply a long list of place names.
A well-built Turkey package tour also separates arrival transfers from sightseeing days, states clearly which nights are spent where, and is explicit about which services — guiding, transport, entrance fees — are shared with other travellers and which are private. That is the standard we apply to every route below.

Signature Sample Itinerary
11-Day Grand Turkey Historical & Cultural Journey
Istanbul → Ankara → Cappadocia → Konya → Pamukkale → Ephesus → Pergamon → Troy → Gallipoli → Istanbul. This day-by-day plan shows how The History Travel connects nine regions into one realistic route, with the specific places visited each day. Shorter packages above use the same building blocks in smaller combinations.
Welcome to Turkey. On arrival, meet your local representative and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, the rest of the day is free for rest or a first, easy walk through the surrounding neighbourhood.

On Arrival
Istanbul City Orientation
A first drive through the city introduces the Bosphorus, the old city skyline and the neighbourhood where your hotel is based, setting the scene for the two full sightseeing days ahead.
Optional, Late Afternoon
Sultanahmet Square
If your arrival time allows, a relaxed walk around Sultanahmet Square offers a first glimpse of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque before tomorrow's full-day tour.
Optional, Evening
A Traditional Turkish Tea Garden
Turkish tea culture is a good introduction to local life — a quiet çay garden near the old city is a pleasant way to shake off travel fatigue.
Optional, Evening
Bosphorus Waterfront Promenade
A short walk along the Bosphorus shoreline gives a first sense of the strait that divides Europe from Asia — the same waterway you'll see properly from a boat on Day 3.
A full day in the historic heart of the city, moving between four of its most important Byzantine and Ottoman landmarks on foot.

Morning
Hagia Sophia
One of Istanbul's most recognisable monuments, its monumental architecture, vast interior volume and long religious history — first a cathedral, then a mosque, then a museum, now a mosque again — make it a defining sight of the city.

Late Morning
Blue Mosque & the Hippodrome
The Blue Mosque is famous for its elegant Ottoman architecture and richly tiled interior. It sits directly on the site of the historic Hippodrome, once Constantinople's great public and ceremonial centre.
Early Afternoon
Topkapi Palace
The great Ottoman palace complex overlooking the Bosphorus and Golden Horn. Its courtyards, treasury and ceremonial spaces give an extraordinary insight into more than four centuries of imperial life.
Late Afternoon
The Grand Bazaar
One of the world's oldest and largest covered markets, with more than four thousand shops along its vaulted, lantern-lit lanes — a fitting close to a day spent among Istanbul's grandest landmarks.
After breakfast, a view or cruise of the Bosphorus offers a different perspective of the city before continuing toward Ankara, Turkey's modern capital.
Morning
The Bosphorus Strait
One of Istanbul's defining geographical features. Viewing or cruising the waterway reveals historic waterfront mansions, fortresses and palaces along both the European and Asian shores.
Afternoon, on Arrival
Ankara City Centre
Turkey's modern capital offers a different dimension to the journey — a Republican-era city of museums, government architecture and national heritage rather than imperial monuments.
Late Afternoon
Anıtkabir
The monumental mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, and one of Ankara's most important national monuments.
Evening
Ankara Castle (Ankara Kalesi)
The old citadel above the city centre offers panoramic views over modern Ankara and a glimpse of the older, pre-Republican town within its walls.
As the road continues from Ankara, central Anatolia's plains give way to Cappadocia's volcanic terrain, with a classic photo stop along the way.
En Route
Lake Tuz (Salt Lake)
Turkey's second-largest lake and one of the world's largest hypersaline lakes, its mirror-flat white salt flats make a striking, otherworldly stop between Ankara and Cappadocia.

On Arrival
Göreme & the Cappadocia Valleys
A landscape unlike anywhere else in Turkey, shaped by ancient volcanic ash and centuries of human settlement carved directly into the soft rock.
Afternoon
Göreme Open-Air Museum
A UNESCO World Heritage site of rock-cut Byzantine churches and monasteries, several still holding faded frescoes hundreds of years old.
Late Afternoon
Üçhisar Castle
The highest point in Cappadocia, a natural rock fortress riddled with carved rooms and tunnels, offering the region's best panoramic viewpoint at golden hour.
A full day exploring Cappadocia's fairy-chimney landscapes, which change dramatically with the position of the sun, and one of the region's remarkable underground settlements.

Optional, Sunrise
Hot-Air Balloon Flight
A balloon flight over the valleys can be added on request. Balloon flights are not automatically included in every Cappadocia package and depend on operating and weather conditions on the day.
Morning
Devrent Valley (Imagination Valley)
A valley of isolated, oddly-shaped rock formations that visitors have long nicknamed after the animals and figures they resemble — a favourite for photography.
Midday
Kaymaklı Underground City
One of Cappadocia's largest subterranean settlements, its interconnected chambers, stables and ventilation shafts show how entire communities sheltered underground for extended periods.
Afternoon
Pigeon Valley
Named for the hundreds of dovecotes carved into its cliff faces by farmers who once collected pigeon droppings as natural fertiliser — a scenic walking route between Göreme and Uçhisar.
Depart Cappadocia toward Konya, with a historic Silk Road stop along the way, before continuing west toward Pamukkale's brilliant white terraces.
Mid-Morning
Sultanhanı Caravanserai
A remarkably well-preserved 13th-century Seljuk caravanserai, once a fortified rest stop for camel caravans on the historic Silk Road route across Anatolia.
Midday
Mevlana Museum, Konya
The former lodge of the Mevlevi order and burial place of the 13th-century poet and mystic Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi — a site of deep significance in Turkish cultural and spiritual history.
Early Afternoon
Konya's Old City & Alaeddin Hill
A short walk around Konya's historic centre and its Seljuk-era mosque atop Alaeddin Hill rounds out the city's cultural transition between central and western Anatolia.

Evening, on Arrival
First View of Pamukkale
As you approach Pamukkale, the landscape changes dramatically — brilliant white mineral terraces create the appearance of a natural snow-covered hillside, best seen as the sun begins to set.
Walk the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale, then explore ancient Hierapolis built directly above them, before continuing toward the Ephesus region on the Aegean coast.

Morning
Pamukkale Travertine Terraces
A UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its brilliant white terraces, built up over thousands of years by mineral-rich thermal water flowing down the hillside.
Late Morning
Hierapolis Ancient Theatre
One of the best-preserved Roman theatres in Turkey, seating around 12,000 spectators, with its elaborately carved stage building still largely intact.
Midday
Hierapolis Necropolis
One of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia, with more than a thousand tombs — a striking, atmospheric complement to the travertines just below.
Afternoon
Journey to the Ephesus Region
The route continues toward Kuşadası or Selçuk, your base for tomorrow's full day at ancient Ephesus.
A full day at one of Turkey's greatest archaeological destinations, moving through the monumental remains of ancient Ephesus and nearby Selçuk.
Morning
Library of Celsus
Among the most recognisable monuments of Ephesus, its elaborate two-storey façade demonstrates the architectural sophistication and urban grandeur of the ancient city, which once held around 12,000 scrolls.
Late Morning
The Great Theatre
Carved into the hillside and seating up to 25,000 people, this theatre is another vivid reminder of the sheer scale of ancient Ephesus at its peak.
Midday
Temple of Artemis
Historically counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the surviving column and foundation mark the site of what was once one of the largest temples of the ancient Greek world.
Afternoon
Basilica of St John, Selçuk
Built over the traditionally held burial site of St John the Apostle, this basilica is one of several important early Christian heritage sites in and around Selçuk.
Travel north toward Pergamon, where modern Bergama preserves the archaeological landscape of an important Hellenistic and later Roman city, before continuing to the Dardanelles.
Morning
Pergamon Acropolis
Perched dramatically on a hilltop above Bergama, the Acropolis once housed one of the ancient world's greatest libraries, second only to Alexandria's.
Midday
The Asclepion
An ancient healing centre and one of the first medical schools in the world, dedicated to Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine.
Early Afternoon
Red Basilica (Kızıl Avlu)
A massive Roman-era temple later converted into a Byzantine basilica, its red-brick ruins still dominate the modern town of Bergama below the Acropolis.
Evening, on Arrival
Çanakkale & the Dardanelles
Overnight in Çanakkale, on the shores of the strait that separates Europe from Asia and that borders tomorrow's destinations, Troy and Gallipoli.
Two very different chapters of history in a single day — ancient myth and archaeology in the morning, First World War history in the afternoon.
Morning
Troy Archaeological Site
An archaeological site whose layered ruins — nine successive cities built one atop another — reveal a long sequence of settlement stretching back over three thousand years, closely tied to Homer's Iliad.
Late Morning
Troy Museum & the Trojan Horse
A modern museum housing artefacts from the excavations, alongside a large wooden horse replica that has become the site's most photographed landmark.
Afternoon
Anzac Cove, Gallipoli
The small, steep-sided beach where Allied forces landed in April 1915, now a quiet, deeply moving memorial site on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
Late Afternoon
Çanakkale Martyrs' Memorial
A monumental memorial honouring the Turkish soldiers who fell during the Gallipoli campaign, overlooking the strait from the southern tip of the peninsula.
Return toward Istanbul, or continue according to the selected package arrangement.
Depending on your flight time, enjoy remaining free time in Istanbul before your transfer to the airport.
Optional
Grand Bazaar — Last Chance Shopping
A final visit to the Grand Bazaar's lantern-lit lanes for carpets, ceramics, jewellery and souvenirs before departure.
Optional
Spice Market (Egyptian Bazaar)
A smaller, more atmospheric market than the Grand Bazaar, filled with Turkish delight, spices and traditional teas — a favourite last stop for gifts.
Optional
A Final Bosphorus Coffee
A quiet coffee or Turkish tea by the water is a fitting way to close out an 11-day journey across nine regions of Türkiye.
Per Confirmed Schedule
Transfer to the Airport
Transfer to Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gökçen Airport according to your confirmed travel arrangements. End of the Turkey Package Tour.

Where You'll Go
Destination Guide — The Regions Behind Every Package
Every package above is built from the same set of core destinations. Here is what makes each one worth the travel time.
Byzantine & Ottoman Capital
Istanbul
Istanbul is the only major city in the world built across two continents, and its skyline reflects sixteen centuries of imperial history. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar sit within walking distance of one another in the old city, while a Bosphorus crossing shows the same history from the water. Nearly every Turkey package tour begins or ends here — but a departure "from Istanbul" does not automatically include Istanbul sightseeing, so it's worth checking the day-by-day plan before assuming how much time you'll actually spend in the city.
Volcanic Valleys & Cave Dwellings
Cappadocia
Millions of years of volcanic eruption and erosion sculpted Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, and later communities carved homes, churches and entire underground cities into the resulting rock. Kaymaklı Underground City is one of the most complete examples still open to visitors. The region's skies fill with hot-air balloons at sunrise, though — as our source inventory is careful to note — balloon flights are an optional add-on rather than a guaranteed inclusion in every package.
Ancient Ephesus
Greco-Roman Archaeology
Ephesus & Selçuk
Ephesus is among the best-preserved ancient cities on the Mediterranean, with the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre standing largely intact after nearly two thousand years. The site is near Selçuk, and Kuşadası is the usual overnight base for tours that continue along the coast. The Temple of Artemis — once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — and the Basilica of St John are nearby, though which are included depends on the specific itinerary.
UNESCO World Heritage Site
Pamukkale & Hierapolis
"Pamukkale" means Cotton Castle in Turkish, and the name fits — centuries of mineral-rich thermal water have built brilliant white travertine terraces across the hillside. Directly above sits ancient Hierapolis, a Roman spa city whose ruins include a well-preserved theatre and necropolis. Some routes overnight in Pamukkale itself, others in Kuşadası with Pamukkale visited en route — worth confirming, since it changes how much time you actually spend at the site.
Troy & Gallipoli
Myth, Archaeology & First World War History
Troy & Gallipoli
These two sites sit close together geographically but belong to entirely different chapters of history, and it's worth being clear on which — or both — a package actually includes. Troy is an archaeological site with layers of settlement stretching back thousands of years, tied to Homer's Iliad. The Gallipoli Peninsula, by contrast, is a First World War battlefield and memorial landscape connected to one of the twentieth century's most significant military campaigns.
Ankara & Konya
Capital & Cultural Heritage
Ankara & Konya
Ankara, Turkey's modern capital, offers museums and Anıtkabir, the monumental mausoleum of the Republic's founder — a different kind of history from Istanbul's imperial past. Konya, further south, holds a central place in Turkish cultural life through its association with Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi and the Mevlevi tradition, and forms a natural link between central Anatolia and the western regions on longer itineraries such as the 11-day Grand Tour.

Planning Your Route
How Many Days Do You Have?
2–3 Days
Choose Istanbul alone, or Istanbul + Cappadocia if you can add a short flight.
4–5 Days
Istanbul + Cappadocia, or Istanbul + Ephesus + Pamukkale — two well-matched regions rather than four rushed ones.
7–9 Days
Istanbul + Cappadocia + Pamukkale + Ephesus fits comfortably into a nine-day window with realistic travel days.
10–11 Days
The full historical arc: Istanbul + Ankara + Cappadocia + Konya + Pamukkale + Ephesus + Pergamon + Troy + Gallipoli.
14–15+ Days
A longer journey allows a slower pace and additional regions such as Antalya's Mediterranean coastline.

Travelling With Children
Allow more time between destinations and avoid an overly compressed schedule — ask us about family-paced versions of any route.

Landscapes Matter Most
Prioritize Cappadocia and Pamukkale, with extra time in the Mediterranean or Aegean if your schedule allows.

Choose fewer destinations and stay longer in each region rather than trying to see everything in one trip.
Want maximum flexibility? Request a fully private, custom Turkey package built around your own dates and priorities rather than a fixed departure.
A good package is not just a list of destinations. The route should make sense, hotel nights should match sightseeing locations, and transfers and guiding arrangements should be clearly stated before you book.

Booked on a friend's recommendation, this ten-day family tour was organised by an owner described as friendly, knowledgeable and thorough — the kind of well-run trip that gets recommended onward to friends and family.
His guides felt less like tour operators and more like hosts sharing their own city — a full day covering Istanbul's main mosques and Topkapi Palace, a great lunch included, at what he called a genuinely fair price.
A personalised itinerary built around her family's needs, with prompt communication throughout planning and travel. She praised the English-speaking guides, hotel quality and transport as consistently professional from start to finish.
When a booked balloon flight was cancelled for weather, the team came back in person to refund it — and stayed in touch by WhatsApp for the rest of the trip. A five-star experience built on that kind of follow-through.
