Türkiye, Paced for Families

This 11-day, 10-night package was built around one idea: cover Türkiye's essential sights without rushing the people who matter most — your kids. From the domed skyline of Istanbul to the balloon-filled sunrises of Cappadocia, the turquoise waters of Antalya and the mineral-white terraces of Pamukkale, every day mixes a guided highlight or two with real breathing room for lunch, naps and wandering.

You'll travel with an English-speaking guide throughout, in an air-conditioned vehicle, with two domestic flights bridging the longer distances (Istanbul–Cappadocia and Denizli–Istanbul) instead of long overland drives with young children in the back seat.

Hotels are booked in the Boutique or 4-star category on a twin-sharing basis, with breakfast included daily and lunch included on every scheduled sightseeing day. The result is a trip that reads like a highlight reel of Türkiye's UNESCO sites and natural wonders, minus the exhausting itinerary-cramming that usually comes with seeing this much of the country in under two weeks.

Trip Highlights

  • Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque & Topkapı Palace, Istanbul
  • Bosphorus cruise between two continents
  • Ferry & boat day to the Princes' Islands
  • Ottoman Bursa: Green Mosque & historic Silk Market
  • Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, valleys & underground city
  • Optional sunrise hot-air balloon flight
  • Antalya's old town, Roman gate & Düden Waterfalls
  • Pamukkale's travertines & ancient Hierapolis

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1

Arrival in Istanbul

Welcome to Türkiye. A representative meets you at Istanbul Airport for a private transfer to your hotel. After check-in, the rest of the day is free — ideal for resting off the flight or getting an early first taste of the city.

Suggested (optional, not included): a stroll along Istiklal Street and Taksim Square, a walk through Galata, tea at a local café, or an evening Bosphorus dinner cruise.

Overnight: Istanbul

Day 2

Old City (Sultanahmet) Tour

A full day through the historic core where the Byzantine and Ottoman empires each left their mark: Hagia Sophia, the 6th-century landmark now serving as a mosque (free entry for Muslim visitors; a ticketed upper gallery for others); the six-minaret Blue Mosque and its 20,000 hand-painted İznik tiles; the open-air Hippodrome; the sultans' Topkapı Palace; and the 4,000-shop Grand Bazaar.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Istanbul

Day 3

Istanbul Highlights Tour

Markets, palaces and open water: browse the aromatic Spice Bazaar, tour the 19th-century Beylerbeyi Palace on the Asian shore, cruise the Bosphorus past Ottoman waterfront mansions, and ride the cable car up to Pierre Loti Hill for panoramic views over the Golden Horn. Free time for shopping rounds out the day.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Istanbul

Day 4

Princes' Islands Tour

A car-free, slower-paced day that's a natural favourite with kids: a boat crossing the Sea of Marmara to Kınalıada, then on to Büyükada, the largest of the Princes' Islands, where Ottoman-era mansions, pine forest and seaside cafés set the scene for a relaxed afternoon by the water.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Istanbul

Day 5

Bursa Full-Day Tour

A day trip to the first Ottoman capital, starting with a scenic ferry crossing of the Marmara Sea (weather-permitting). In Bursa: the early-Ottoman Green Mosque and adjoining Green Tomb; the 15th-century Koza Han silk caravanserai; a cable-car ride up Uludağ Mountain (2,500m+, if operating); and a stop at a local Turkish delight workshop.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Istanbul

Day 6

Flight to Cappadocia

A short domestic flight trades Istanbul's skyline for Cappadocia's lunar-like valleys. After hotel check-in, the rest of the day is free.

Optional activities (not included): ATV sunset safari, a traditional Turkish night show, or a sunset panorama tour.

Meals: Breakfast  •  Overnight: Cappadocia

Day 7

Cappadocia Red Tour

A first deep dive into Cappadocia's volcanic scenery: the rock-fortress views from Uçhisar Castle; the UNESCO-listed cave churches of the Zelve Open-Air Museum; the riverside pottery town of Avanos; the fairy chimneys of Paşabağ (Monks Valley); and the wind-sculpted rock formations of Devrent (Imagination) Valley.

Optional (early morning, not included): hot-air balloon flight, weather permitting.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Cappadocia

Day 8

Cappadocia Yellow Tour & Overnight Transfer to Antalya

A second Cappadocia day covering the region's valleys and cave settlements: the glowing rock formations of Red Valley and Rose Valley; the cave houses of Çavuşin Village; one of Cappadocia's extraordinary underground cities (Kaymaklı or Özkonak, tour-dependent); and the carved dovecotes of Pigeon Valley. Afterward, transfer to an overnight coach for the journey south to Antalya.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 9

Antalya Old City Tour

Arrival on the Mediterranean coast for a day exploring Kaleiçi, Antalya's Old Town of restored Ottoman houses and cobbled lanes; Hadrian's Gate, a Roman triumphal arch from 130 AD; the landmark Clock Tower; the yacht-lined Old Harbour; and the cliffside Düden Waterfalls tumbling into the sea.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Antalya

Day 10

Pamukkale Tour & Flight to Istanbul

A drive inland to one of Türkiye's most photographed sights: the blinding-white calcium terraces of Pamukkale, formed over millennia by mineral-rich thermal springs, sitting alongside the Roman ruins of Hierapolis — its ancient streets, baths, a well-preserved Roman theatre and one of the ancient world's largest necropolises.

Optional (not included): a swim in the thermal Cleopatra Antique Pool.

Afterward, transfer to Denizli Airport for the evening flight back to Istanbul.

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch  •  Overnight: Istanbul

Day 11

Departure

After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer to Istanbul Airport for your international departure flight. We hope to welcome your family back to Türkiye again soon.

AI Trip Recommendations

A few practical suggestions, generated for this specific itinerary, to help your family get the most out of the 11 days.

Book the balloon flight before you land

It's the single most requested add-on on this route and regularly sells out in spring and summer. Reserve it for Day 7 or 8 as soon as your dates are confirmed, and keep the following morning flexible in case of a weather reschedule.

Pack for cobblestones, not carpets

Sultanahmet, Kaleiçi and the Cappadocia valleys are all uneven, sun-exposed walking terrain. Broken-in closed shoes for every family member will matter more than any other packing item.

Use the Princes' Islands day to recharge

Day 4 is intentionally the lightest day on the itinerary — a good point to let kids nap on the ferry or run around car-free streets before the longer Bursa and Cappadocia legs ahead.

Plan Day 8's overnight transfer around sleep

The Cappadocia-to-Antalya leg runs overnight by coach. Bring travel pillows, a favourite blanket and screen-loaded devices for younger children — most families find kids sleep through a large part of the journey.

Shift Pamukkale earlier if traveling in peak summer

The travertine terraces get hot and crowded by midday in July–August. If your dates are flexible, ask your consultant about starting Day 10 at first light.

Carry small Turkish Lira notes

Card payment is widely accepted, but bazaars, small cafés and tips are easiest in cash. An ATM withdrawal on arrival in Istanbul covers the whole trip comfortably.

Mosque visits: modest dress for everyone

Shoulders and knees covered for all family members, and a headscarf on hand for women, keeps Day 2's Blue Mosque visit simple and unrushed.

Layer up for Cappadocia evenings

Even in peak summer, Cappadocia's high desert elevation means evenings cool down noticeably after sunset — a light jacket per person is worth the suitcase space.

Add travel insurance before you fly

It isn't included in the package. With two domestic flights and an overnight coach in the itinerary, a policy covering trip delay and medical costs is worth arranging before departure.

🌷
Spring (Apr–May)
Mild temperatures and green valleys — a strong choice for families avoiding summer heat.
☀️
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Long daylight hours suit a packed itinerary, though midday heat in Pamukkale and Antalya is intense — plan around it.
🍂
Autumn (Sep–Oct)
Comfortable temperatures with thinner crowds — often considered the best balloon-flying window.
❄️
Winter (Nov–Mar)
Cool and quiet, with occasional Cappadocia snow; balloon flights are more weather-dependent.

Good to Know Before You Go

Yes. Sightseeing days include lunch and rest breaks, hotels are booked on a family-sharing basis, and the pace is gentler than a back-to-back group tour. Strollers work on most paved routes, though a few Cappadocia valley paths and ancient-ruin sites involve uneven, cobbled ground better suited to a carrier for toddlers.
The package includes 10 nights in Boutique or 4-star hotels plus two domestic flights: Istanbul to Cappadocia, and Denizli to Istanbul at the end of the Pamukkale day.
No, the balloon flight is a popular optional add-on booked locally and is not included in the package price. We strongly recommend reserving it in advance, since flights are weather-dependent and sell out in peak season.
International airfare, dinners, drinks with meals, optional excursions, the Cappadocia balloon flight, the Cleopatra Antique Pool entrance fee, personal expenses, travel insurance and gratuities are excluded.
The Private option gives your family its own vehicle and guide throughout, with flexible pacing. The Group option joins scheduled small-group departures at a lower per-person rate, sharing the vehicle and guide with other travelers.
Comfortable closed walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat and a reusable water bottle, a light jacket for cooler Cappadocia evenings, modest clothing (and a headscarf for women) for mosque visits, and some Turkish Lira in cash for markets and tips.
