Turkey's Most Complete History Route
4,000 Years of History
The Library of Celsus
Turkey's Most Complete Ancient History Route
This is our richest short history itinerary, tracing over 4,000 years of history down the Aegean coast — from a 20th-century battlefield to some of the greatest cities of the ancient Greek and Roman world.
The journey begins at the Gallipoli peninsula, site of the pivotal 1915–16 WWI campaign, with visits to Anzac Cove and its memorials. Crossing the Dardanelles, you'll reach Troy, the city of Homer's Iliad, excavated to reveal thousands of years of settlement.
Continuing south, Pergamon (modern Bergama) was once one of the most important cultural and medical centers of the ancient world, its dramatic hilltop acropolis home to a famous library and one of the steepest ancient theatres ever built. The route ends at Ephesus, near Selçuk, with its iconic Library of Celsus and grand Roman theatre.
Three hotel nights give each region proper time, rather than compressing four major sites into a rushed schedule.
