Bursa is the second biggest city in the Marmara region and the fourth biggest one in Turkey with 2,6 million population. It was the first proper capital of the Ottoman State with numbers of great architectural examples of the early Ottoman period.
Ulucami, the Great Mosque, is the biggest mosque in Bursa that a unique example of the Ottoman architecture which carries many details from the Seljuk period. It is famous with 192 peaces of calligraphically great monumental wall inscriptions and sunlight tower in the main dome.
Yesil Mosque and the Tomb was ordered by the Sultan Mehmet I in 1420 as a Külliye an educational complex. It is another good example of Seljuk architecture. Because of the interior green color tile decoration from the early tile work, it is called the Green Mosque.
Iskender or Alexander Kebap is one of the most famous meat foods of Turkey that prepared from thinly cut grilled lamb basted with hot tomato sauce over pieces of pita bread and generously slathered with melted sheep butter and yogurt.
Uludag or Great Mountain is the highest mountain in the Marmara Region with the altitude of 2543 mt. It is one of the most popular winter resorts with the winter sports options and also activities during the summer such as trekking and camping.
